Gary Smith is 57 years old and calls the Pacific Northwest home. He and his wife Marilyn have traveled to nearly 50 countries including many islands. He has worked in a variety of occupations including; apprentice machinist, landscaper, produce salesman, horse groom, long-haul truck driver, airline pilot, now a documentary filmmaker and travel adventure lecturer. A wanderer at heart, he has hitchhiked across half of the United States sleeping under overpasses, driven a motorcycle sidecar from Portland. Oregon to Tierra del Fuego Argentina, Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay, Alaska across to Goose Bay Labrador down to Key West Florida including the southern U.S. and Mexican gulf coasts to Belize. Other adventures have allowed him to piloted his motor vessel Noyo Star a 36' CHB Trawler from Portland, Oregon across the Colombia River Bar to Juneau, Alaska roundtrip and down the Pacific Coast to Mazatlan, Mexico. When he isn't traveling, he's thinking about it.
